The company
De Standaard, Het Volk, Het Nieuwsblad and De Gentenaar are all daily newspapers published by Corelio. This publisher wishes to expand its services to the Internet.
The situation
When it was time for an evaluation of the standing agreement, Corelio was interested in knowing what vwd group could do for their website, not as a replacement for the listing pages that vwd group has been supplying for years for Corelio publications, but more so as an addition.
The solution
vwd group suggested an overall solution for the financial section of the websites www.standaard.biz, www.gentenaar.be, www.hetvolk.be and www.nieuwsblad.be. A search engine for investment funds, an exchange rate calculator, a share price module and a tool for portfolio management were developed in the same look & feel of the websites.
The implementation
After close consultation with Corelio, it was clear which type of information they wanted to offer their website visitors. Based on those consultations a proposal was made. After approval, the proposal was sent to vwd group’s ICT department. In only six weeks time an entire new financial platform was developed that was suitable for every type of visitor.
Based on the follow-up meetings and remarks of Corelio customers, and in close cooperation with Corelio themselves, any errors were solved immediately after they were reported and extra markets were implemented quickly.
The benefits
The listing pages in the newspapers are just a snapshot of the situation of the market, however, the Internet modules on the various websites offer the customer continuous updates of the market situation. Thanks to a user-friendly module for portfolio management, the website visitor can compose a protected list with his shares and investments funds. It is this module that offers Corelio a huge added benefit because it prompts the visitor to return to the websites over and over again, which is, of course, very interesting for the traffic on the website and subsequent advertising sales.
Furthermore, the customer appreciates this additional information, which is certainly good for the newspapers.
