The company
Mobistar is one of Belgium’s most important telecom operators. They are active in the areas of mobile and home telephone services, ADSL and other markets with a significant growth potential, such as data transmission.

The problem
In order to advance the development of the WAP portal, Orange World, Mobistar wanted to offer a more comprehensive financial information package to its customers.

The solution
vwd group developed an alluring financial portal for Mobistar and other types of mobile telephones. This gives visitors access to the latest news reports and market figures of Euronext Amsterdam, Brussels and Paris. The last price, detail sheets and exemplifying charts are readily available.

The implementation
After close consultation with Mobistar, a visualisation of the desired information was drawn-up on per screen basis. In cooperation with the technical contact person at Mobistar, vwd group’s ICT unit developed a completely new, custom platform that fits every type of mobile telephone, GSM and PDA. Since 2006, Orange World users can satisfy their hunger for information with just a couple of clicks. In the meantime, Mobistar and vwd group continue working together. With prompt follow-up to the changes in the world of telecom, vwd group actively participates to meet Mobistar’s latest technical requirements.

The benefits
XML and RSS feeds continuously provide the Orange World user with the latest share prices and news. Because of vwd group’s in-house knowledge of WAP, technical developments can take place at Mobistar’s demand.

Testimonial
In December 2006, vwd group and Mobistar launched the mobile websites of De Tijd and L’Echo on Orange World. Orange World is Mobistar’s WAP portal where users can consult various services including news, sports, e-mail and of course financial information.
